Office 365 Email Transition Announcement (with updates)

William Mitchell has converted from Live@EDU to Office365. This is for students, faculty, staff and alumni.  To access your email you will need to log into the WEB email with your temporary password (see below) and reset your email password.  Then you can use that new password for the web mail, Outlook, your phone or tablet.

 

New Website for Office 365                                                                                                         

Go to- https://login.microsoftonline.com. This is the new link to web email.  All links on the Mitchell websites have been updated.

 

You must enter you entire email address as the user name (example jim.villars@wmitchell.edu) and your new password (WmXXXXXX) where X= employee or student number.  Your employee or student number can be found on your Mitchell ID card, on the side with your picture, left corner.  (This is a 6 digit number Students start with a 1 or 2, employees start with a 4 or 5.)  This is a onetime to establish your email password.

 

Ongoing issue:                                                                                                                               

The primary issue we are seeing is that if you do not log in correctly Microsoft redirects you to the wrong page.  Once there you cannot login no matter what you do.  The WM accounts are no longer there.  We believe Microsoft has now fixed the real problem, BUT if you still have the site in you browsers cache it will take you to this wrong site.

 

SO, if you are using IE or Firefox you can just close the browser and this clears the cache.  If you are using Chrome or any Apple browser you must physically clear the cache.  See below for instructions.

 

This is especially prevalent on Apple devices (MACs, iPads, iPhones) using the Safari browser and not resolving the email website correctly after you enter a incorrect password.  To fix this issue you must manually clear the cache.  See instructions below.  We also strongly suggest that you make sure your Mac is up-to-date by clicking the Apple icon on the upper left of your screen, choose Software Update…, and accept any updates related to Safari or Mac OS.

Skydrive

Your SkyDrive will remain intact and available at  https://login.live.com/ using your full email address and old password indefinitely. You will need to manage your own password on the Skydrive.  No mail will be available at that site.

No Office 365 Logo

If you do not see the Office 365 logo you are on the wrong website. Close ALL browser windows (IE & FF) or clear your cached information (Chrome or Safari) and try again.

CAPTCHA ERROR                                                                                                                       

If you get the message below your account is temporarily locked out.  Close all browsers and wait 10 minutes and try again.

 

Clearing Cache                                                                                                                              

Internet Explorer

  1. Tools Options, Delete browsing history
  2. Close all windows and restart
    1. Login to your new email account. https://login.microsoftonline.com

 

Fire Fox

  1. Tools, Clear Recent History.  Choose everything
  2. Close all windows and restart
  3. Login to your new email account. https://login.microsoftonline.com

                                                                                                                                                                                                           

 

Chrome

1. Hit the combinations key (Ctrl-Shift-Delete) on the keyboard

2. Obliterate the following items from: The beginning of time

3. Check Empty the cache

4. Check Delete cookies and other site and plug-n data

5. Click clear browser data button

6. Close chrome and restart chrome

7. Login to your new email account. https://login.microsoftonline.com

 

Safari

1. Open safari click on safari upper left corner

2. Click on Empty Cache (click empty cache)

3. Click on safari again click Preferences select privacy tab/or security tab depend on your browser version.

4. Cookie and other website data: Click removed all Website data button

5. Quit Safari and reopen Safari

6. Login to your new email account. https://login.microsoftonline.com
